Briefing[]

British intelligence has recruited you for your skills. Investigate General Vahlen and find out what he's up to.

Opening[]

We lost Tobruk. But my work had drawn the attention of British Naval Intelligence. They've been following one of Hitler's protégés sent to Africa, a ruthless advocate of nerve agents in the last war - General Franz Vahlen. Their informant close to Vahlen has gone dark so they want me to investigate. My first port of call is in the Gaberoun Oasis, an Axis transport hub. Scout teams and commanders pass through here. Along with intel. I have the cover of darkness on my side. There are a few officers in the area so that's where I'll start my search. I can see plenty of elevation around the lake - perfect to set up my rifle. If Vahlen's been here, there'll be trail and I'll find it.

Walkthrough[]

The mission starts behind an enemy soldier, who is trying to fix a backfiring generator. Take him down, and advance to the top of the stairs overlooking the first camp. From this vantage point, you can use the sound mask from the generator to snipe the enemies in the nearby camp, as well as to clear out the first sniper nest by hitting a barrel.

You will need to kill the officer found in the tent near the watchtower and search his body. This provides a map of officer assignments, which shows additional targets you need to eliminate.

The second officer can be sniped by entering the sniper nest to the West. The sniper nest has a generator that can mask the sound. When the officer is killed, cleanup any nearby enemies and search his body.

The third officer is on a path near a small campfire, with a few soldiers as an escort.

The fourth officer is found in the North-West camp. He is most approachable from the East, as there are fewer enemies in that direction, and less of a need to fight through the camp. While dealing with this officer, there are two optional objectives in the same camp: the motorpool just to the East, and the spotlight to the South.

The final officer is in the North-East building. You will have to fight past a large group of enemies on the path, in addition to enemies in the building itself.

Once the final officer is searched, the general will try fleeing. Head outside the building, and place land mines on the ground tracks. You may also use other explosives as well. Hide when the general approaches, preferably in a place that allows sniping the general (in case you misplace the mines). Once the general is killed, exit to the South-East.

Optional Objectives[]

  1. Eliminate the Officer from the sniper nest.
  2. Disable the searchlight. Found in the North-West camp.
  3. Destroy the Motorpool (5). There are nearby explosives that you may use, including fuel tanks.

  1. Found in a ruined building next to the Searchlight yard, in a small opening under a dark blue tarp and Red Afrika flag.

Sniper Nests[]

  1. Found in the South-West camp, containing a generator and overlooking the first officer.
  2. The watchtower containing the searchlight is a sniper nest.
  3. A small wooden scaffold connected to the building containing the final Officer near the end of the level.

  1. Mission Diary found on the very first objective-based enemy killed.
  2. Axis Account: Reclaiming Tobruk In the second group of tents before the first sniper's nest. Found in the middle tent on the East side.
  3. Discipline and Obedience In a tent directly across to the West from the Reclaiming Tobruk tent. Next to a corpse sitting up in a chair.
  4. Intel: Recruitment Drive Found on the first Officer.
  5. Axis Account: Vahlen's Presence Found in the group of buildings with a campfire in between them, just off the South-west crossing path. On top a Green crate.
  6. Vahlen's Journal: Welcome To Afrika Found in a tent in the yard that the searchlight overlooks. On the East side in the middle tent.
  7. Intel: Vahlen's Project Found on the Officer in the Northwest camp before entering the Motorpool.
  8. Axis War Story: Tobruk's Defense Found in a tent near where the Officer with the Vahlen's Project diary was patrolling.
  9. Intel: Threat Assessment Found on the Officer in the middle of the map, near an ammo crate.
  10. Survival Notes: Relocation Found on the East end of the map, nearing the end. On a crate behind 2 soldiers standing guard next to a noise masking generator.
  11. Intel: Report for Reassignment Found on the final officer.

Long Shots[]

Head up the Searchlight watchtower and use your binoculars to look to the Southeast, there should be a lone soldier high up in a Guard tower.

Trivia[]

  • A German Sniper appears in this chapter, but only as a long shot objective: they will not attack the player and will disappear if they move.
